I earned a BA in Art/Art History from Mount Holyoke College and an MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Colorado Denver and I have worked in philanthropy, education, and mental health. After a challenging job loss at the end of 2020, I reconnected with a lifelong drive to create and discovered clay in September 2021. Clay found me at exactly the right time and place and through the exact right people and I dove all the way into the medium. I launched my art business in summer 2022 and my work can be found at a growing number of galleries and shops and online. In addition to making, I am currently an instructor at JunkPot Studio in Connecticut where I teach wheelthrowing and surface treatment.

Shifting into a utilitarian craft medium--ceramics--unlocked a facet of my artistic voice that had been untapped until three years ago and has helped me unlearn many of the messages I internalized about who gets to make art professionally and what art has value in our world. In creating functional work I have been able to consider not only how someone might use the work but also how the surface and design might enhance that experience. In direct reflection of the individual and collective need for comfort and joy, I have developed a balanced maximalist aesthetic that speaks directly to the inner child and infuses whimsy into daily rituals and connections. Ceramics has given me a channel to explore color, shape, form, and craftsmanship while connecting with the healing power of art making. In persisting through the process of learning clay, in experiencing failure and struggle and tension, beautiful, magical pieces emerge. My intention is to create pieces that bring joy and hope, evoke powerful memories, invite playfulness, and connect directly with the user.
